Rosemary Andrade Martínez
Galápagos Program Coordinator
As a third generation Galapagueña, Rosemary knows nearly everyone
and everything about the Galápagos archipelago. She draws her
inspiration for protection and care of nature from her daily
contact with the Pacific Ocean in these spectacular Islands,
and has participated in several different research projects
within the Marine Reserve. Rosemary coordinates EPI's local student groups and orchestrates logistics for all of
our Galápagos courses.

Melissa Bangs
Development Officer
In her role at EPI, Melissa
provides the opportunity for donors throughout the United
States, Mexico and Costa Rica to partner with EPI, making
significant investments in our vital and unique ecology and
conservation work abroad. Melissa brings to this position many
years of professional fundraising experience. In 2004, she
brought her successful nonprofit consulting business home from
New York City. Since then she has provided fundraising,
strategic planning and board consultation to more than 100
organizations throughout Montana, Wyoming, California and New
York.

David Hernández
Administrative Coordinator
Born and raised in Mexico, David's first contact with EPI
was in the summer of 2006 when he translated the website to spanish
while visiting Missoula. He is now responsible to assist
Heidi Keaster in all administrative tasks, as well as content
updates to the website, video uploads to youtube, etc. David
enjoys weight lifting, soccer, any fun physical activity,
movies, music, mexican food (when possible) and listening
to mexican radio over the internet.

Sylviane Jaume Schinkel
México Campus Coordinator
Sylviane, who was born in Mexico City, is a Marine Biologist who has been involved
for more than seven years in whale research in the Gulf of California.
She now coordinates educational activities and logistics at
EPI's campus in La Paz, after collaborating with EPI as a
research partner in the 2006 and 2007 Whale Ecology Program.
Sylviane holds a master’s degree with a feeding ecology study of
Fin whales in the Gulf and has worked as a teacher and naturalist,
combining her passion to be outdoors with whales with opportunities to share this information with students and
tourists.

Joshua Klaus
Manager of Academic Programs
Enthusiastic about experiential education and cross-cultural
interaction, Josh works with U.S. and international teachers
and student groups to create life-changing learning
opportunities through EPI. He also oversees and develops
our Galápagos program. When not pursuing his love for the Spanish
language and traveling in Latin America, Josh spends his free
time crooning Dylan covers with his blue Bolivian guitar,
rock climbing, working in the garden, or backpacking in the
wilds of western Montana.

Mariana Malaver
Costa Rica Program Assistant
Mariana is
Colombian, and graduated in Zootecnia from the Universidad
Nacional de Colombia. She has worked in conservation,
environmental education and volunteering especially with
international volunteers for the last five years. She started
working in Colombia with all kind of wildlife but turtles have
always been her passion. In February 2007 she started working
with EPI as a Program Assistant.

Haley Newberg
Recruitment Coordinator
Haley is a recent addition in 2008 and comes to EPI with many years of experience among a broad range of non-profits and wildlife conservation organizations. Having lived and traveled in Central and South America, she is thrilled to be a part of an organization that shares her passion for the Latin American culture and language, natural resources and Lizano salsa. Outside of work, she enjoys camping with her family, working on their fixer-upper and tinkering with her numerous and varied art projects.

Erin Nuzzo
Development Coordinator
Erin has worked in the non-profit realm for many years and in various capacities as both volunteer and staff. She is very passionate about environmental issues, and in particular, conservation education. With her fundraising experience and enthusiasm for EPI’s mission, Erin’s goal is to increase funding to support more local student participation in EPI’s programs in order to create a new generation of conservationists in those areas where they’re needed most. In her spare time, Erin likes to partake in Montana’s great outdoors. In the winter, she loves snowboarding and cross country skiing by her house, and in the summer she enjoys rafting, fishing, camping, and hiking with her family.

Julie Osborn
Advancement Director / Co-Founder
Julie is an ecologist and analyst focused on issues surrounding
global change. With EPI, Julie facilitates collaboration between
scientists and the communities near their research sites to
promote effective conservation and she directs organizational
development and fundraising. When not in the office (or in
the field), Julie practices yoga, hikes mountains, and runs
rivers.

Scott Pankratz
Executive Director / Co-Founder
Scott is an educator and wilderness guide with diverse field
and classroom experience. Scott’s strengths lie in integrating
research and education, bringing common vision to a range
of stakeholders, and non-profit administration. He directs
EPI’s organizational resources to the highest achievement
of EPI’s mission. In his free time, you can find Scott
backpacking, kayaking, and playing basketball.

Jean Placko
Mexico Program Manager
Jean invigorates our student programs
in Baja California Sur with her high energy teaching and outreach efforts.
She joined EPI with an impressive resume of outdoor education
and leadership, combined with a season as an EPI instructor
in Galápagos. Jean oversees EPI's Mexico programs,
develops curriculum and outreach activities,
and inspires each of us with her patient smile and quick sense
of humor.

Sam Rose
Mexico Program Associate
Sam is a science educator with a passion for the environmental and cultural diversity of Mexico. Over the past decade he has spent nearly as much time in Latin America as he has in the States. Some of the highlights have been managing community development projects in Honduras, performing ethnobotanical research in Dominican Republic, guiding rafting excursions in Chiapas, Mexico, and teaching high school biology in New York City. At Ecology Project International, Sam applies his rich inventory of experiences to supervise program activities and develop organizational initiatives.

Carlos Trejos Jiménez
Costa Rica Program Associate
Carlos is a Costa Rican tropical biologist who has worked
in conservation, environmental education and volunteering
-- especially with international volunteers in rural areas
to promote sustainable community development. With EPI,
Carlos coordinates activities with Costa Rican schools groups,
and facilitates communication with local participants.
He's a self-proclaimed nature and adventure enthusiast and
loves to explore his own country!

Eylen Zúñiga Acuña
Costa Rica Program Coordinator
Eylen comes
from the town of Naranjo, in the Central Valley of Costa Rica.
She is a biologist who has been working with EPI for 4 years
because she enjoys to share her knowledge and passion of the
tropical forest and sea turtles with our students. When she is
not working, she enjoys hiking & snorkeling in Cahuita,
her favorite beach; cooking or gardening. Eylen coordinates
several program's activities and logistics, as well as
communication with Costa Rican schools
groups.
