You'll arrive to Juan Santamaria airport in Alajuela, close to the capital city of San Jose, where you'll meet your EPI instructors. You will spend your first night at the Rincon de San Jose Hotel and get an overview of your upcoming journey.

Your group will fly into Ecuador's capital city Quito. You'll meet an EPI representative at the airport and get an opportunity to rest in preparation of the adventures to come!

After an afternoon arrival in Baja California Sur you'll get to know your instructor team as you stroll along the Malecon, a pedestrian walkway. You'll enjoy the sunset on the Sea of Cortez, start learning about whale biology, whale ecology and the species of whales around Baja, Mexico, and explore the EPI campus in La Paz.

You'll arrive to La Paz and get to know your instructors while you explore the EPI campus. That evening you'll overview your marine biology course and get ready to head off to the island first thing in the morning.

You’ll arrive to Bozeman, Montana, get to know your instructor team and then head south to the remote and vast Centennial Valley on the Western edge of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. This evening around the campfire and under the stars of the Big Sky you will get an introduction to the important work you will be accomplishing

Today you'll get on a plane and fly to the famous Galapagos Islands. On arrival you'll transfer to the highlands of Santa Cruz Island where you begin to design your Galapagos wildlife ecology research project.

Your Galapagos adventure officially begins. Early in the morning you'll travel by plane to the Galapagos Islands. After arriving, you visit the Charles Darwin Research Station, begin to design your research project, and learn field methodology.

Today you'll board the “Pez Sapo”, your research vessel during the whale ecology course. As soon as you embark on your voyage in the Sea of Cortez, you'll initiate the whale biology and ecology observation study. Later that evening you'll camp on a secluded beach or on the boat under star-lit skies.

On your way to the Carribbean coast you'll pass through Braulio Carrillo National Park to learn about cloud forests. When you get to Pacuare Nature Reserve you'll study leatherback sea turtle ecology and research protocol to start your work with leatherback sea turtles. Every night you'll patrol the beach to collect data about nesting leatherback sea turtles and during the day you will explore and investigate the rainforest ecosystems, and help restore leatherback nesting habitat on the beach.

You will spend a day each with The Nature Conservancy and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife removing fences that inhibit wildlife migration and monitoring the local population of Mountain Bluebirds. During down time, hike to a vantage point to take in the tremendous vista.

Today you'll transfer by boat to Espiritu Santo Island where you'll camp on a secluded beach under star-lit skies for the next four nights. Your days will be spent conducting a tropical marine biology snorkel census, exploring the island, sea kayaking, or playing on the beach. Each night you'll review your data and enjoy some of the finest food in Mexico.

Our collaboration with the Galapagos National Park begins today as you take part in an important population study of giant tortoises living in the wild. While staying at a private reserve, you'll learn more about the wildlife ecology of the highlands.

You'll fully immerse yourself in whale ecology observation as you collect data up close from the research skiff. You study in detail the cetaceans encountered each day while you enjoy the scenery of red rock island cliffs contrasted with spectacular azure waters.

You and the group will explore Yellowstone, including wolf watching in the amazing Lamar Valley, doing a scavenger hunt in Norris Geyser Basin, and hiking in the park taking in the majestic scenery.

Today you'll work side by side with representatives from the Galapagos National Park in an effort to help eradicate invasive species from habitat used by giant tortoises and other endemic species. You'll also learn about island biogeography and tortoise biology.

Today you head down from the highlands to the main town of Puerto Ayora. You'll spend the morning monitoring juvenile Galapagos tortoises at the National Park, then you'll hike out to Tortuga Bay -- a pristine beach -- where you'll play games and watch the sun set.

You'll finish up your whale ecology field research and head back to civilization. In the evening you'll prepare your presentation for your intercultural exchange day and likely review the hundreds of photos you took of the largest animals on the planet: the whales in Baja, Mexico.

After returning to La Paz you'll head to a local school for your intercultural exchange day. In the morning you present the results of your marine biology research projects while hanging out with local students and practicing your Spanish. Later that day you explore parks, churches, and other cultural highlights in La Paz.

You'll begin your Yellowstone wildlife monitoring with the USFS. Depending on the project you might walk transects and search for animal sign, build a wolverine trap for the coming winter, or become a wildlife CSI investigator as you collect DNA evidence from a bear hair snare lure site.

You'll travel from Pacuare to La Suerte Biological Station. On your way there, you will have the opportunity to visit a local high school to meet a group of local students that have also been to Pacuare. You'll talk about your experience in the program and spend a fun day learning about a different culture. At La Suerte you'll participate in a reforestation project and learn in depth about Costa Rica ecology: rainforest dynamics, conservation efforts, flora, and fauna

Today's intercultural exchange day will certainly be a highlight! You'll meet local students and learn about each other’s cultures, present whale ecology research project results, and play soccer or volleyball while you practice Spanish with the locals.

Today you'll visit a local high school attended by students from the Galapagos islands who have also participated in the wildlife ecology and island ecology program. You'll share the results of your research and have the opportunity to enjoy local food.

You'll head south into the Sierra de La Laguna mountain range. There you'll swim below towering tropical waterfalls, hike through lush canyons within a unique inland mountain ecosystem, and help the local community with different service-learning projects and opportunities.

You'll round out your course by hiking to the San Javier Mission near Loreto or visiting the serpentarium in La Paz. On your last night you'll graduate at a festive farewell dinner and reflect on the wonders of whale ecology research.

Today is pure adventure! You'll raft the Yellowstone River including the rapids of Yankee Jim Canyon in the Paradise Valley. That evening after a soak in historic hot spring, you will have a graduation dinner while hoping for a few last views of Yellowstone wildlife along the river.

Today you will travel to Turrialba, a small town where you'll stay in a beautiful mountain hotel with an amazing 360° view of the surroundings, including two volcanoes. There you'll learn about different crops (like coffee and sugar cane) and spend time with a local family who owns the ranch who will give you a taste of the local way of living.

By boat, you'll begin a four-day, three-night journey through the Galapagos islands archipelago. Each day you'll visit a different island, snorkel as much as possible, and really get up close and personal with the famous Galapagos wildlife. This will certainly be a highlight!

Today you'll say goodbye to your instructors and head home from Baja California Sur reflecting on the whales in Baja, Mexco and the time you spent studying whale ecology on the Sea of Cortez.

Today you raft the spectacular rapids of the Pacuare River observing, first-hand, the diversity of Costa Rica's tropical ecology along the way. You and the group will float through vibrant jungle canyons and past waterfalls during a one-day tropical rafting adventure!
