Allysa Veigel

“Ecology Project International changed my life.”

Inland Student Dreams of Marine Biology

Growing up far away from the ocean, Allysa had a passion for marine life but no outlet to pursue this dream. Searching for a way to get hands-on experience with whales, Allysa discovered EPI’s Whale Ecology Program. She helped four marine biologists in actual scientific research about the sounds of a dolphin, amino acids in blue whales, and completed her own research project covering migration patterns of sperm whales. All of this was accomplished at the water, where she slept each night on course. Working side-by-side with scientists, immersed in the world of marine biology, Allysa not only gained skills she will need as a marine biologist, but the confidence to follow her dreams.
