Galapagos Native Promotes Awareness About Invasive Plants

Elvis has always been interested in the outdoors at his home, the Galapagos Islands, often traveling with his father by boat to explore. But Elvis was unaware of how invasive plants, like the blackberry, are altering the place he loves, making it difficult for animals and native plants to survive.

After learning more about restoration, conservation, and ecology, Elvis became more interested in what he could do to help other Galapagos residents become aware of invasive plants. Elvis is starting a blackberry eradication program at his high school, to promote awareness of this issue and also spread the message about the benefits of planting native species.
