Costa Rica - Sea Turtle Ecology
Experience the wonder of nesting leatherback sea turtles in Costa Rica

Sea Turtles in Costa Rica
Visit the birthplace of EPI and many of the world’s magnificent leatherback sea turtles. On this Eco-Tour, you’ll witness the largest sea turtle on Earth as she comes ashore to lay her eggs, a ritual her ancestors began millions of years ago. Gather data while on “turtle patrol” at night, stroll through the rainforest in the company of white-faced capuchin monkeys and tree sloths, take in magnificent waterfalls, and relax in your hammock to the sway of tropical breezes.
Outstanding wildlife viewing will be a highlight of your stay at a private reserve on the Caribbean coast. Accessible only by boat, the reserve is located north of Limon along the Tortuguero canals.
You will enjoy exclusive access to a 2000-acre rainforest while staying in a comfortable but rustic house with running water, kitchenette, and shared bath. Meals may be eaten with EPI students and researchers in a dining commons nearby, or served on the spacious deck surrounding your house.
The students and researchers you will meet are participating in EPI’s Costa Rica Program. The aim of the program, as with all of EPI’s programs, is to instill in high school students an understanding of ecological problems and solutions.
On this trip you will make a difference, supporting conservation of a critically endangered species and learning about EPI’s vision for the future -- a future that counts on local and international citizens being ecologically savvy leaders and participants in the protection of priceless habitats. Join us for an unforgettable adventure!
