Catalina
An Island of Inquiry
Join your fellow teachers on a 7-day training in progressive teaching methodologies. Situated off the coast of Los Angeles, Santa Catalina Island is the perfect locale to be immersed in the study of inquiry-based education models. You'll study progressive teaching methodologies and ways to engage with the next generation science standards. By working on research projects, snorkeling the rich waters and exploring the dynamic ecosystems of the island's interior, you'll develop your own curriculum based on the fundamentals science education: curiosity, exploration and real-world phenomena.
This program is open to all levels of informal or formal educators. No application is needed to enroll.

Island Biogeography
Islands make the perfect laboratory for the study of ecological systems. With EPI, you'll examine a wide array of phenomenon. You'll catalog the presence of microplastics on the island's beaches, conduct transects for marine invertebrates, and examine how tourism and sustainable development are key to protecting such a delicate environment.
