Haley Hanson

Interim Co-Executive Director

Haley spent her childhood wrangling reptiles and amphibians across the Midwestern United States and in the wilds of Central and South America. She studied zoology in the Hawaiian Islands where she helped the Marine Fish and Wildlife Service tag green sea turtles on the shores of black sand beaches. Later, she found a home under the redwoods of Northern California and pursued a master's degree in environmental education.

Haley has worked in the global non-profit and wildlife conservation arena since 2001 and joined EPI in 2008, shortly after relocating to Missoula. As EPI's Director of Communication & Culture, her work blends together a passion for field-based education, Latin American culture (and hot sauces!), communicating science in visually stunning and creative ways, and connecting teachers, students, and staff with EPI's unique and diverse culture.

Outside of work, she enjoys last-minute camping trips, lightly-planned travel, dreaming up large-scale renovation projects, and tinkering with paint, clay, and metal.
