Sophia's journey began in Savannah, GA. She received her BA in Human Ecology with a concentration in Wildife Biology from the College of the Atlantic in Maine. She's made a home in Costa Rica and the San Juan Islands and has traveled all over the world conducting animal behavior research with some amazing organizations; from penguins and kiwis in New Zealand, elephant seals on the Farallon Islands and capuchin monkeys in Costa Rica.
She can't wait to bring her knowledge of field research and ecology to EPI and she's excited to join EPI's unique programs where students and leaders are learning about Yellowstone ecology while actually collecting data the Park will use. So cool!
She's been awarded a couple grants that have allowed her to conduct her research; one was a NASA fellowship space grant, and another was the Maine Sea Grant.
