Luis Carlos was born in Palmares, Costa Rica, and currently lives in San Pablo de Turrubares, a small village in the country's Central Pacific region.

He is a natural resource manager specializing in environmental education and coastal ecosystem restoration. His work with various Costa Rican NGOs has included developing and delivering ecology courses, coordinating logistics for research station visits, and supporting the design and implementation of mangrove forest restoration strategies.  

Luis Carlos is excited to join the EPI family for the chance to keep learning — from the organization, from its activities, and from the students themselves. He believes that continuous learning is at the heart of both personal growth and meaningful conservation work.

Outside of work, he enjoys tending his garden, making compost, and growing his own food. He also finds great joy in walking forest trails and observing birds.
