Diego was born in Xalapa but discovered his bond with nature as a child, captivated by the world around him. After studying Marine Biology (first at UMAR, then at UABCS), he specialized in marine ecology—yet soon realized his path wasn’t in the lab, but in education.

The seed of his passion for environmental education took root in 2013, when he joined an aquaculture project for fishers’ children. Later, with Grupo Tortuguero de las Californias, he refined his ethical and hands-on approach under the guidance of a pivotal mentor. By 2019, when he began his journey with EPI, he was ready to put everything he’d learned into practice.

A lover of film, theater and drawing, Diego believes personal interests can deepen environmental education. “It’s not just about sharing science,” he explains, “but helping people rethink their relationship with nature and build an ethical connection.” His goal? To inspire colleagues and students to broaden their perspective—proving we’re all inseparable parts of the ecosystem.
