Imelda Soto Andrade
Mexico Instructor
Imelda has carried nature in her heart since her childhood in León, Guanajuato, where trips to the coast awakened her fascination with marine ecosystems. This passion led her to study Marine Biology at UADY, followed by a Master's in Marine Resource Management at CICIMAR-IPN, specializing in ichthyology and embryology.
She first connected with EPI as an intern in 2022, joining the team formally in 2025. It was through an environmental education course with the organization that she discovered her teaching vocation: "I want to plant seeds of change through students," she says. Inspired by her maternal grandmother - who taught her about insects, birds and plants in her hometown - Imelda blends scientific knowledge with a warm, approachable personality.
Beyond her work with fish and sea turtles, she's passionate about crafts and yoga, skills that enrich her educational approach. For Imelda, every interaction is an opportunity to share the curiosity that defines her and to demonstrate that environmental protection begins with an emotional connection to our surroundings.
