
Kyle Van Atta
Yellowstone Operations Coordinator
Kyle is a native of Montana who has traveled and worked all over the Western United States. His work has taken him as far north as Alaska, and as far south as Costa Rica. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Montana, a graduate certificate in fish and wildlife management from American Military University and is currently completing a master’s in natural resources at Oregon State University.
Kyle brings more than eight years of experience in wildlife, conservation, and natural resource management. His professional background includes roles as a biological science technician on a variety of wildlife research projects, an associate ecologist with a research-focused nonprofit, a helicopter pilot and firefighter with the National Guard, a firefighter with the Bureau of Land Management, a wildfire researcher with the US Forest Service, and a certified personal trainer. His experience with the National Park Service in Yellowstone’s Bison Ecology and Management Office is especially relevant to his work with EPI.
Outside of work, Kyle enjoys traveling, hiking, backpacking, camping, hunting, snowboarding, SCUBA diving, and flying. In the summer he can often be found on a trail exploring our public lands or on a mountain working through his peakbagging list.
