Austin Skeens
Yellowstone Program Assistant
Austin is originally from a small town in southwest Virginia called Norton and currently lives in Missoula, Montana. He grew up in the mountains of Virginia and earned a degree in Food Science and Technology from Virginia Tech. His professional experience spans a wide range of food and conservation work, from small four acre farms to large 500 acre operations in Montana and California. He has also worked with the Montana Conservation Corps, served as an AmeriCorps VISTA supporting a food access nonprofit, and taken on freelance roles in gardening and farmers market management.
Austin is deeply enthusiastic about working outdoors with young people in educational settings. Outside of work, he embraces an active Montana lifestyle and can be found cooking, walking and hiking, playing recreational sports around town, throwing a frisbee or playing tennis with his partner, house sitting, backpacking and camping, cross country skiing, working out, reading, and making the most of his free time throughout the year.
