Course Description:
During this field-based course, you will learn teaching strategies and tools developed by Ecology Project International (EPI) for creating and delivering authentic science lessons aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)*. Through participation in authentic research and conservation projects, you will develop your ecological knowledge and hone your science process skills. You’ll learn strategies for helping your students observe, question, discuss and conduct independent scientific research. You’ll increase your comfort with lesson planning using NGSS, and better understand how to teach science in and out of the regular classroom. You will leave the course with a lesson plan you have created to use at home, a template for creating future lesson and/or unit plans on your own, and resources to support and guide you on your teacher journey.

Who Should Enroll?  This course is designed primarily for active science educators and school administrators. Informal environmental educators and students of education are also welcome to join.  The course content will have an emphasis on ecology, biology and life sciences but may be applicable to other science disciplines as well.
