Katie Goodenow

Yellowstone Instructor

Katie Goodenow, hailing from Northeast Ohio and recently relocating from Bozeman, MT, brings a unique blend of academic rigor and practical field experience to Ecology Project International. A graduate of Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA, with a BA in Environmental Science, Katie's academic journey is marked by significant contributions, including a work-study project in 2022 with her university and the Pennsylvania DEP, where she focused on calculating the bluff recession of Lake Erie. The following summer, she transitioned to Bozeman, MT, where she excelled as a Youth Expedition Leader with the Montana Conservation Corps, engaging in stream restoration on cattle ranches and earning her WAFA certification. At EPI, Katie is thrilled to merge her academic research skills with her passion for environmental education, particularly in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE). She looks forward to exploring this magnificent region and imparting her knowledge to the youth, applying her skills in field research and education in an impactful way. Outside of her professional endeavors, Katie enjoys playing and watching sports, exploring, socializing, and immersing herself in music. As someone new to mountainous terrains, she relishes the opportunity to explore these landscapes in her free time, especially in sunny weather. Her academic prowess is further highlighted by winning the PSAC Scholar Athlete Award from 2019-2023, underscoring her commitment to excellence both in academics and athletics.
